Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Theatre Education Team within Theatres and Anaesthesia CSU. We currently have two Education Practitioner vacancies, including one full-time permanent position and one part-time 12-month secondment (0.75 WTE).

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual with a passion for education and development of staff to join our friendly and dynamic team. You will be energetic, hardworking, and committed to the professional development of the theatre workforce as well as yourself.

Main duties of the job

The primary focus of this role is to support and deliver the education and training strategy across Perioperative Teams. You will work within the Theatre Education Team to ensure that all staff are compliant with mandatory and priority training requirements. You will be actively involved in planning, facilitating, and delivering training to support the professional growth of all learners, including apprentices, and existing registered and non-registered staff.

You must hold a NMC or HCPC registration and possess relevant clinical experience, including an in-depth clinical knowledge and understanding of best practice in perioperative care.

You will work alongside staff and students in the clinical environment, providing continuous support. This includes translating clinical experience and guidance into evidence-based training to underpin safe and effective patient care.

About us

LTHT has over 60 operating theatres and over 1000 clinical staff members. The education team are fundamental in supporting staff development and learning. The team is based across all four sites including Leeds General Infirmary, St James University Hospital, Chapel Allerton Hospital and Wharfedale General Hospital, with their main offices located at LGI and SJUH. The team works closes with external organisations and stakeholders, including local Universities and Trusts.

  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
  • Evidence of continued professional development and implementation in clinical practice within the last 12 months.

  • Insight into current professional issues in relation to education.
  • Advanced peri-operative (or equivalent) experience delivering education and training within the clinical setting.
  • Understanding of training needs in relation to post.

  • Significant Post Registration Experience
