Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen within the Jubilee Theatre Team for a driven,
enthusiastic, forward thinking individual. This post is as matron for a
demanding and challenging service that is looking to increase capacity and
improve the care of our patient.
The
role involves direct and non-direct line management of staff and ensuring
standards of practice are maintained throughout several different clinical
areas. The role holder will be responsible for the overarching management of
Jubilee and Gilbert Scott Theatres based at the LGI.
Consideration
to quality and safety as well theatre utilisation will be vital to this role;
ensuring services effectively allowing patients to receive the specialist care
they require.
Supporting
staff mental health and the wellbeing agenda is vital. The post holder will
need to hold skills relating to supporting mental health and have a strong
focus on staff engagement.
Main duties of the job
The
role holder will have budgetary responsibilities, as well as scheduling, staff
line management, resource management, development of the estate and
facilities and development of staff. With the new plans to for Building the
Leeds Way, the role holder will need to be able to look to the future of the
service and help support its development.
Developing
a flexible and diverse workforce is one of the key priorities of the CSU,
allowing for an innovative approach to practice. This includes working in new
ways, considering new roles and creating career pathways for our existing
workforce.
The
ideal candidate will have a history of proven experience of line management
of staff, innovative thinking, leadership skills, significant clinical
experience and understanding and a vision for our future services.

Job responsibilities
The
jobholder will have overall responsibility for the management of
nursing/associated staff and the management of nursing resources/budgets within
the CSU or a part of it. The jobholder
will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is
provided within the wards and departments for which they are responsible and
ensure the principles of clinical governance are implemented at a local
level. The jobholder will work in partnership
with the facilities department in ensuring high standards of hospital
cleanliness is maintained, embracing the principles outlined in the Matrons
charter.

through a visible presence and provide support, advice and assistance required
by patients, their families and carers.
The jobholder will also support the implementation of the Patient Advice
and Liaison Service (PALS), being a focal point for advice to patients and carers
and local resolution of complaints.

services comprise wards and departments across Theatres and and Anaesthetics
CSU. The jobholder has indirect management of approx. 300 whole time equivalent
nursing and support staff. The jobholder
has direct line management of the Team Leaders within the CSU or a part of it.
The jobholder is responsible for the management of nursing resources and ward
and department budgets.
