Nurse Specialist - Diabetes (XR06)

Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals are looking to recruit a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join the multidisciplinary team. This post is on a 12 month fixed term basis to cover maternity leave

The service delivers highly specialist diabetes care to patients with Type 1 diabetes, complex Type 2 diabetes and provides in-patient care.

We cover the diabetes centre at St Jamess Hospital and in-patients at St James University Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary and Chapel Allerton Hospital.

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic and committed to the provision of excellence in diabetes care and who wants to further develop their knowledge and skills in this field.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will strengthen our specialist nurse team, providing expert advice to patients, education to staff and will work across the outpatient and inpatient service. Training will be given to provide expert care in highly specialist clinics to include; antenatal, preconception, renal, foot, young adult, diabetes technology and DAFNE.

The vacancy would suit a band 5 nurse with diabetes experience or an existing band 6 diabetes nurse who would like more involvement with specialist work.

You will need excellent clinical, organisational, IT and communication skills and be willing to be involved in the development of the Diabetes Service.
