Job summary

The Diabetes department based in Beckett Wing have an exciting opportunity for a full time Band 3 Medical Secretary to join our very friendly and approachable team consisting of medical secretaries and administrative staff. We work very closely with our consulting and admin teams forging strong relationships to deliver the best care for our services users.

Previous secretarial experience would be an advantage for this role.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a team player who can work to a high professional standard to join the Diabetes admin team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely production of clinic letters.

  • Cancelling/rebooking clinic as and when required.
  • Handling patient enquiries by telephone, email or in person.
  • Arrange and prepare meeting agendas, take minutes and circulate.
  • Liaise with staff, patients and other organisations.
  • General adhoc administrative tasks as required.
  • Dealing with incoming/outgoing post.
  • Changing/booking appointments as required.
  • Assisting with the accurate recording of Diabetes technology.
  • The post holder would be required to support the Diabetes Limb Salvage Service MDT.

About us

The diabetes admin team comprises of 1 senior medical secretary, 2 medical secretaries, 2 clerk/typists and 1 data manager. The team are hardworking, very knowledgeable and, they are a great bunch of people who are fun to be around.

The Diabetes Centre is a busy and exciting department that offers an ample number of opportunities to learn more about the service, and the CSU. Leeds Teaching Hospitals is great to be a part of as it has lots of new and interesting opportunities made available for staff.

This post is based at the St James Hospital in a busy but friendly department, and you will be expected to prioritise your workload and undertake multiple tasks. The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work using their own initiative but also teamwork is essential.
