Job summary

Are you seeking an exciting new managerial challenge in a highly supportive Clinical Service Unit (CSU) with fantastic learning opportunities? Do you have a passion for safe and effective care provision for the Elderly and Older Adults population and have at least 18 months of junior management experience? If so, this Senior Sister/Charge Nurse post may be your role. The role is based on Ward J43, a Medical Base Ward managed by the Specialty & Integrated Medicine CSU.

Main duties of the job

It is essential that you are able work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to support the development of the service. The successful applicant must have excellent organisational and time management skills with an aptitude for problem-solving. You must have excellent clinical knowledge and skills. You will need to be a good communicator, be self-motivated, provide high standards of clinical skills, and be able to influence and drive innovative practice within a fast-growing and exciting speciality setting.

The job holder will continue to be responsible for the effective and efficient nursing workforce management in Ward J43. They will provide the nursing team with professional, clinical, and managerial leadership and supervision. The job holder is responsible for developing and maintaining the ward philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate, safe and quality care delivery. Through managing the administrative and financial aspects of the ward, the job holder will ensure cost effective use of resources.

The job holder will provide overall responsibility for providing safe, effective, and compassionate care, ensuring the high standards of the Trust are upheld, and will contribute to the development of the speciality service and the strategic direction of nursing within the Trust.

About us

Ward J43 is a Medical Base Ward at St Jamess University Hospital. It is a 24-bed ward, accommodating a mixture of female and male patients ages below 75 or over. Successful candidates will be responsible for managing staff and working in close collaboration with the MDT across Specialty Integrated Medicine.

The ward provides a high standard of quality care for all of our patients, and we are looking for a highly skilled nurse to contribute to the fantastic work being carried out on J43. The patients on J43 have a wide variety of medical and elderly care needs. We are therefore, we are looking for highly motivated, dynamic individual who can enable and empower a team and maintain high patient care and clinical quality standards.

Clinical

- Work with Matron to lead the development of ward/department nursing practice, reflecting the CMT and Corporate Nursing business plans.
