Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time, rotational Clinical Educator Radiographer/Technologist, based in busy Nuclear Medicine departments at St Jamess University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary. Nuclear Medicine at St Jamess Hospital deals with a range of complex Nuclear Medicine scans, including many hybrid imaging techniques for both adult outpatients and inpatients. The department has 4 gamma cameras - 2 GE670s with diagnostic CT capabilities, a GE640 Optima SPECT/CT and a GE 630 gamma camera. Nuclear Medicine at Leeds General Infirmary provides the cardiac MPS and paediatric services, as well as additional adult imaging capacity. The department has 2 gamma cameras, a GE Discovery 530 dedicated cardiac scanner and a GE850 SPECT/CT system. The department also delivers Band 7 led Adenosine/Regadenoson stress sessions as part of the MPS imaging service. The candidate must have significant experience in a wide range of Nuclear Medicine procedures, including hybrid and complex imaging, and managing day to day running/leadership of a busy department. They would preferably have experience in education, lecturing and managing students. A Post Graduate qualification (or equivalent) in Nuclear Medicine is essential for this post. Candidates must have enthusiasm for patient care, work well in both a team and independently and demonstrate their ability to work within the Leeds Way key values.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and assist with the delivery of a training programme for new and existing staff in Nuclear Medicine. They will encourage and support CPD within the department and be a key player in ensuring our Nuclear Medicine service continues to advance and improve in the future. New gamma cameras are due to be fitted early in 2026, so will offer great scope for learning and development of both staff and service. The successful candidate will also have an extensive knowledge of Nuclear Medicine and requires demonstratable skills in dealing with the day-to-day management of a demanding and challenging clinical service. They will be expected to spend a proportion of their time working clinically at both sites to support each team and remain clinically competent in all areas of the service. The postholder will also be responsible for managing students and apprentices rotating through Nuclear Medicine as part of their learning.
