Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Radiographer to join our exceptional and supportive reporting radiographer team as a Trainee Reporting Radiographer. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals passionate about X-ray imaging and the continuous improvement of our reporting service.

This training post is designed to support your development into an enhanced practice role. On successful completion of the post-graduate reporting course, you will independently report a wide range of musculo-skeletal (MSK) X-rays including emergency, inpatient, and GP referrals, and contribute to our Radiographer-Led Discharge (RLD) service. In addition, your will participate in clinical sessions and actively support the delivery and development of the service.

Please note: As you are recruited as a trainee reporting Radiographer you will be paid at AfC annex 30 band 7 throughout the training period (approximately 12-18 months) and will move to band 7 upon successful completion of post-graduate qualification, achievement of required competencies and approval to report autonomously.

Main duties of the job

As a trainee Reporting Radiographer Practitioner, you will:

Work clinical radiography sessions alongside supported reporting training sessions with supervision and mentorship from Reporting Radiographer Practitioners and Consultant Radiologists.

Gradually develop competencies in interpreting and reporting MSK X-ray examinations.

Undertake the Post-graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Reporting at the University of Bradford.

On qualifying as a Reporting Radiographer Practitioner, you will:

Work within the clinical departments, undertaking complex X-ray examinations and supporting and promoting the delivery of high quality patient care.

Undertake interpretation and reporting of MSK X-ray examinations from all referral sources.

Advise clinicians of any unexpected or critical findings.

Actively contribute to our Radiographer-Led Discharge pathway in the Emergency Department.

Act as a source of expertise to radiographers and the wider clinical team.

Be involved in the daily organisation and delivery of the radiology service.

Participate in teaching sessions, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.

Be actively involved in teaching about plain film acquisition and interpretation to undergraduates, radiographers and trainee radiologists.
