Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is offering a hands-on training opportunity for motivated individuals to begin a career in diagnostic imaging. As a Radiography Apprentice, youll work alongside experienced professionals, rotate through imaging modalities, & study towards a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography all while making a real difference in patients lives.
This role combines paid employment with academic study, leading to a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography & eligibility for HCPC registration. You will be employed as an Apprentice Radiographer under Band 5 Annex 30, with pay progression linked to your development and competence throughout the apprenticeship. Upon successful completion, you will transition into a fully qualified Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer.
Applicants should review both the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards of proficiency for diagnostic radiographers and Sheffield Hallam Universitys entry requirements before applying. Awareness of the radiographers role and radiology as a specialty is essential.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in person at Leeds General Infirmary on 18th October.
High scoring candidates will be invited to a second interview with Sheffield Hallam University on 21st October via MS Teams

Main duties of the job
Work as a member of the radiography team, contributing to high-quality diagnostic imaging services and demonstrating the highest standard of patient care.
Be workplace-based for an average of 30 hours per week, with 7.5 hours per week protected for study time.
Attend mandatory block weeks at Sheffield Hallam University.
Arrange annual leave outside of university attendance periods.
Commit to studying during working hours and at home, including virtual tutorials, webinars, and CPD events.
Perform a range of radiographic procedures under supervision, in line with the apprenticeship curriculum.
Rotate through different imaging areas (e.g. X-ray, CT, MRI).
Understand and adhere to legislation including IRR 2017, IRMER 2017, and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
Report faults and errors promptly and escalate appropriately.
Communicate effectively with patients and carers, providing reassurance and clear explanations.
Liaise with multidisciplinary teams regarding imaging needs and results.
Ensure safe use of X-ray equipment and maintain accurate records.
Input and manage patient data using the Radiology Information System.
Prioritise tasks appropriately under supervision.
Actively participate in departmental meetings & team discussions.
