Job summary

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trusts Medical Illustration Service is looking to appoint a full time permanent, Medical Illustration (higher level) Support Worker to become part of our team working within Medical Illustration.

Within Medical Illustration we provide a range of photography, design, video, illustration, ophthalmic imaging and services to the Trust as well as to external clients.

In order to apply for this post it is essential that you have already attained all of the essential criteria in the person specification including:

Level 3 or equivalent health care related qualification or equivalent experience

Significant experience of working within a healthcare setting delivering personal and clinical care, and:

Utilisation of planning and organisational skills

Insight into roles responsibilities of post

Knowledge and Understanding of the following:

Principles of infection control

Customer relations

Maintaining a safe environment

Emergency procedures

Ideally you will be able to hit the ground running and use the skills you have already obtained to undertake ophthalmic imaging to our standard operating procedures

Main duties of the job

Undertake a range of ophthalmic imaging procedures including V/As, retinal + corneal OCT, tomography, widefield imaging and specular microscopy.

Provide routine information to patients, communicating to patients the importance of attending appointments.

Receive information from patients and update EPR systems accordingly

Maintain a safe working environment, reporting incidents, accidents, complaints

A frequent requirement of handling and positioning of patients in a wheelchair

Understand the need to maintain and respect patient confidentiality

Participate in in-service training/mandatory training annually

Participate in annual performance appraisal

Undertake duties on different sites as required by service demands

Support team members with appropriate clinical activities

Assist in the welcome and reception of patients into the clinical area

Update information systems e.g. JMS PAS MIM PPM+

Undertake the administration work supporting care pathways within the service

Following training and assessment, will undertake ophthalmic imaging procedures which requires a high degree of accuracy.

Working overtime, sometimes at short notice, to provide cover

Develop good working relationship

Participate in appropriate and relevant communications networks

Ensure the maintenance of good relationships, communications and teamwork with all disciplines within the ward / department.
