Trainee Reporting Sonographer (XR07)

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the ultrasound Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, as a trainee Sonographer. This will be band 7 post (annex 21 T&C's).

We are looking for HCPC registered Health care professionals with a background in Imaging (Radiography) or Midwifery.

You will undertake the Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Imaging (Ultrasound) at the University of Cumbria. The practical training will be delivered across the main hospitals sites of Leeds General Infirmary and St James's with rotation out to the peripheral sites at Wharfedale and Seacroft hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will work closely with the Clinical educator and Clinical Mentors to complete their post graduate studies and gain competencies to independently perform ultrasound examinations.

On completion of the post graduate studies you will begin a 6-12 month preceptorship period and work towards being signed off to independently report ultrasound examinations on successful completion of your reporting audit.

We are a busy Teaching Hospital providing secondary and tertiary care. The post holder would be required to support the obstetric work alongside acute in patient and out patient services. As a regional transplant centre we also have a commitment to support the pre and post renal and liver transplant service. We also have a dedicated Paediatric Ultrasound department.
