We
are looking for two skilled and enthusiastic Ophthalmic Imaging Technicians
to join our dynamic imaging team. If you have experience in ophthalmic
imaging, a keen eye for detail and are passionate about providing high
quality patient care, we would love to hear from you.
As
an Ophthalmic Imaging Technician, you will play a key role in capturing
high-quality images of the eye to assist in the diagnosis, monitoring, and
treatment of a variety of eye conditions. You will work primarily in our
ophthalmic diagnostic clinics, undertaking vision checks and diagnostic
imaging packages for patients from a range of ophthalmic specialties. Your
expertise in ophthalmic imaging will contribute to enhancing patient care and
supporting our medical professionals in providing the best possible care. Our
Ophthalmic Imaging Technicians work as a part of the Medical Illustration
team within eye clinics across Leeds Teaching Hospitals Sites and at off-site
clinics and locations.
Main duties of the job
The
main focus of this role is to provide ophthalmic diagnostic clinics for
patients with a variety of ophthalmic conditions. These clinics aim to
streamline the patient pathway, providing quicker, more efficient review for
patients and this role is a key part of this transformation in service
provision. Working independently, you will take a patient history, conduct
vision and IOP testing and undertake the required imaging modalities as per
protocol. You will be the key point of contact for patients, assisting them
through the diagnostic care process, ensuring that they are informed and
comfortable with their care plan and follow-up steps.
In
addition, working alongside colleagues from Medical Illustration, including
Medical Photographers and other Ophthalmic Imaging Technicians, and the wider
eye clinic team, you will perform high-resolution imaging of the retina,
cornea, anterior segment, and other parts of the eye using specialized
ophthalmic imaging equipment for those patients who are attending for
face-to-face review. This is a fast paced environment in which the team works
flexibly and adaptably to provide comprehensive, high quality imaging
services to a range of clinicians and specialties.

- Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy.

- Knowledge and experience undertaking wide range of ophthalmic tests used in the diagnosis of ocular disease.

- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to relate to and deal with a wide range of people including patients (some of which could be visually impaired), clinicians, nursing and administrativ
- A detailed understanding of the principles of data protection and confidentiality as applied to the clinical setting.
- Evidence of prior technical experience obtained in a similar role.
