This
post comprises one session/week (7.5 hrs) under The Leeds and West Yorkshire
Radiology Academy, working alongside and under the auspices of two consultant
sonographers to provide and deliver education of Radiology Trainees within
the Radiology Academy and the clinical setting.
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will act as an autonomous practitioner, accountable for their own
actions, working closely with the Consultant Radiologists, Radiography
Service Manager and Team Managers to provide an effective and efficient,
innovative and leading-edge practice in ultrasound.
Working
within codes of practice and professional guidelines, to independently
formulate a comprehensive diagnostic report for ultrasound examinations,
ensure that this is communicated to the appropriate referring clinician, and
will advise clinicians directly and immediately of any unexpected or critical
findings. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and
will be involved in the daily organisation and delivery of the ultrasound
service.
Within
and through the Radiology Academy:
You will work closely with Consultant Sonographers, the Academy
Business Manager and administrative team.
The
post will be centred on the Education of the Radiology Specialty Trainees.
Deliver high quality and effective training.
You will deliver and participate in practical ultrasound training in
the academy Skills Lab. This will include overseeing the scanning of
volunteer trainees and using Intelligent Ultrasound Scantrainer and
Bodyworks ultrasound simulators.
Provide
practical hands on 1-1 and group training to Radiology SpR's and provide
continual assessment of a trainees progression, and participate in practical ultrasound
training in a clinical setting.

Experience
Essential
- Range of ultrasound techniques/procedures including General medical Ultrasound. Detailed knowledge of anatomy/pathologies/ abnormalities/ diseases/conditions
- Knowledge of local and national ultrasound guidelines/protocols
Other Criteria
Essential
- Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy

- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
