Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the busy Breast Screening Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Leeds Wakefield Breast Screening Service has two mobile mammography units and four static sites at St.Jamess University Hospital - Leeds, King Street -Wakefield, Wharfedale General Hospital - Otley and at Retail Park J32 - Glasshoughton to provide basic screening facilities for 180,000 women aged between 50-71 years of age in the Leeds, Wakefield and Pontefract districts. As the mobile screening units are sited in a variety of locations around Leeds, Wakefield and Pontefract, there is an expectation that applicants will have a full drivers licence.
Breast imaging is a challenging and interesting branch of radiography which provides scope for specialisation in a valuable diagnostic area of the profession. First rate practical imaging and communication skills are important, together with a commitment and focus towards customer care. The Service supports Continuous Professional Development. We are seeking to recruit versatile, well motivated and enthusiastic radiographers to join our multi-disciplinary breast team. Mammography qualifications are welcome but not essential as postgraduate training is available.

Main duties of the job
Undertake all the professional and technical requirements of the post as a State Registered qualified radiographer with the Health Professions Council (HPC), while working as an autonomous practitioner within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Radiology CSU. To perform high quality screening mammograms, within a screening and clinic environment in line with national standards. To work as a clinical specialist as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing high standards of patient care, whilst following policies and procedures as specified by the Radiology Management Team. The post-holder also undertakes the supervision and specialist clinical training of radiographers, undergraduate students and other staff as appropriate.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY BSc(or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography or Diploma of the College of Radiographers (Diagnostic) State Registration (HCPC)
Minimum of 24 months postgraduate experience, working as a radiographer. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of a wide range of general and specialised radiography. Knowledge and insight of current trends in radiographic practice and wider NHS issues. Commitment to undergo all training requirements of the post. Attendance at professional lectures, study days & workshops Evidence of on-going CPD, in relation to HCPC requirements.
