Job summary

The Dental Radiology Department at Leeds Dental Institute (Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust) has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Radiographer with experience and interest in Dental Radiology to join our efficient and busy department.

The Leeds Dental Institute is joined with the University of Leeds Dental School and provides a 08:30am - 5:00 pm service with some Saturday working.

Candidates will need to demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise, have excellent communication skills, initiative and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Candidates will be required to co-ordinate the department, manage the departments workload and make informative departmental decisions.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will undertake a wide variety of dental & maxillofacial radiography including plain film and CBCT examinations.

We currently have 7 Imaging Rooms consisting of 5 Intra-Oral Units, 3 OPG Units (2 with Ceph) and 2 Cone Beam CT units. A range of Maxillo Facial Cone Beam CT examinations are undertaken in the department for inpatients & outpatients of LTHT and also for other NHS trusts within Yorkshire. The department is keen to facilitate further education opportunities, both formal and informal, and individuals are actively supported in this area. Involvement in departmental audits and research is expected and all staff are encouraged to attend regional and national conferences related to the department.

Undertake all the professional and technical requirements of the post as a State Registered qualified radiographer with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), while working as an autonomous practitioner within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Radiology Directorate. To perform a wide variety of specialised radiographic procedures and examinations within and outside the X-ray department, for example on wards and specialised operating theatres. Patients presenting for examination have diverse backgrounds and may have complex physical and/or psychological conditions. To manage personal workloads, authorising and prioritising radiological examinations as appropriate for clinical need. To work as a clinical specialist as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing high standards of patient care, whilst following policies and procedures as specified by the Radiology Management Team. The post holder also undertakes the supervision and specialist clinical training of radiographer, undergraduate students and other staff as appropriate.
