We
are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist
to join our Gynaecology Specialist Service within the Leeds Cancer Centre,
Oncology Clinical Service Unit at St Jamess University Hospital.
The
successful candidate will be responsible for delivering specialist support to
patients with a gynaecological cancer and their families across the region.
The
post holder will work within in a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists playing
a pivotal role in supporting women diagnosed with gynaecological cancers
across their entire care pathwayfrom diagnosis and treatment through to
survivorship and end-of-life care. This is a rewarding opportunity to develop
specialist skills and work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide
holistic, evidence-based care.
The
team comprises of 8 Clinical Nurse Specialists, 1 cancer Care coordinator, 2
Medical Oncology Consultants, 6 Gynaecology Oncology Surgical Consultants, 3
Clinical Oncology Consultants we also work closely with Benign Gynaecology
where most of our patients have their initial investigations and diagnosis
and collaborate with other services to provide care and treatment to our
patients.

Main duties of the job
The
role of the CNS is primarily to support patients from a suspected or
confirmed diagnosis of gynaecological cancer throughout their cancer journey
acting as the patients key worker and taking into consideration the patients
holistic needs and delivering personalised care.
The
post holder will develop specialist knowledge in gynaecological cancer and
treatment and will be able to offer expert advice to patients and colleagues.
The
post holder will be office based but will attend regular outpatient clinics
and provide specialist psychological support to inpatients. They will also be
a core member of the MDT.
Key
responsibilities:
Manage a caseload, acting as a key
worker and main point of contact for patients and families.
Deliver high-quality specialist
nursing care, triage and advice.
Coordinate care and liaise with
oncologists, surgeons, and palliative care teams.
Support patients with information,
counselling, and decision-making.
Participate in MDT meetings,
audits, and service improvement projects.
Contribute to nurse-led clinics and
pathway development.
Collect, collate, evaluate and
report information, maintaining accurate patient records

recurrent/metastatic cancer to end of treatment providing support management

of resources.
