Applications are invited for a 15-week B8A Principal Clinical Scientist - Radiotherapy Physics Technology secondment position in St Jamess University Hospital, Leeds. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to fulfil the role of Medical Physics Expert as required by the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017, IR(ME)R, to support the broad scope of work of the Radiotherapy Physics technology group.

Main duties of the job
This post is based in the radiotherapy physics technology group within the Radiotherapy Physics section of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering.. The main responsibilities are:
To provide Medical Physics Expert (MPE) advice and support for the provision of radiotherapy within the Trust. Area of expertise will include radiotherapy technology and dosimetry. Duties will include, acceptance, commissioning, calibration, dosimetry, quality assurance and quality control. To develop radiotherapy technology, techniques, utilisation, verification and quality assurance. To design, develop and manage appropriate radiotherapy systems, usage, data and databases. During the time period of the secondment it is expected that the successful candidate will take a lead role in commissioning and implementing a portal dosimetry solution in Leeds.

The centre is equipped with the latest technology, including 12 Versa HDs, 3 CT Simulators, MR Simulator, RayStation treatment planning, a Flexitron remote afterloading, advanced image guided brachytherapy, I-125 prostate brachytherapy service and Gamma Knife ICON. The managed equipment service was recently renewed, ensuring equipment replacement and comprehensive support for the next 15 years.
