Are you an experienced registered nurse with a passion for leadership and specialist cancer care? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and motivated Senior Sister to join Ward J96, a specialist acute Oncology unit within Leeds Cancer Centre - one of the UKs largest providers of specialist cancer care.
Ward J96 is an 18-bedded Oncology/Haematology admissions ward. This role is ideal for a compassionate and driven nurse looking to develop their leadership skills while ensuring the highest standards of patient-centred care.
Ward J96 work closely with all the wards within the CSU and working collaboratively and empowering others is a key skill.
As Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will:
Provide strong clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing team.
Ensure high standards of care, efficiency, and collaboration within the multidisciplinary team.
Act as a role model, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
Drive quality assurance, audit processes, and continuous service improvement.
Manage the operational, financial, and administrative aspects of the ward.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will carry 24 hour continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management of ward J96, a 22 bedded acute Adults inpatient ward and provide professional, clinical, managerial leadership and supervision for the nursing team. The jobholder is responsible for developing and maintaining a ward or departments philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate safe and quality care delivery. Through managing the administrative and financial aspects of the ward, the jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources.
As a band 7 Senior Sister, the successful candidate will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the nursing team and ensuring effective management of the ward/department.
Successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to develop their leadership and management skills as well as clinical skills specific to this area with a structured development programme.
