Exciting Secondment Opportunity: Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist
Aplastic Anaemia and PNH Service Haematology Department

We are pleased to announce a 12-month secondment opportunity for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Aplastic Anaemia and PNH (Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria) service within the Haematology department at St Jamess University Hospital.
PNH is an exceptionally rare, acquired bone marrow disorder often requiring complement inhibitor treatment, blood transfusions, and careful management of symptoms such as haemolysis and thrombosis. Similarly, Aplastic Anaemia is a rare haematological disorder characterised by bone marrow failure, necessitating specialised care.
Our PNH service is one of only two nationally commissioned centres in the UK, delivering specialist support to patients with PNH and their families across the country. The PNH team, based in Leeds, provides care locally and through eight outreach clinics nationwide. All transport for outreach clinics is provided. The postholder would require the successful candidate to be flexible in their working hours and have a commitment to travel across the UK.

Main duties of the job
This is a national service with Leeds Teaching Hospitals providing care to patients diagnosed with PNH including outreach services/clinics across the country to support patient care.
The successful candidate with work closely alongside 4 Consultants, a Specialist Registrar, other Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Support Workers and members of the administrative team.
Applications are invited from registered nurses who can demonstrate an ability to innovate, motivate and evidence their commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary team and are committed to the development and delivery of this specialised service and gain experience of working within a nationally commissioned service.
Previous experience within Haematology or Oncology is highly desirable but not essential.

The PNH Service is part of the Oncology CSU that also cares for haematology, oncology and surgical oncology patients. We strive to deliver a high standard of care to all our patients. We are based in the Bexley Wing at St Jamess Hospital, which is a purpose built cancer facility.
