Oncology
Clinical Nurse Specialist 22.5 hours per week.
We
are pleased to advertise this exciting opportunity for a band 6 Clinical
Nurse Specialist to be a valuable addition to the Oncology CNS team in Bexley
Wing.
We
are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse with excellent
communication and interpersonal skills who has the ability to work both
autonomously and as part of a team.
The
successful post holder will provide highly specialised nursing care, advice and
support to patients diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer, including those on
metastatic treatment pathways, surveillance and best supportive care. You
will also support the management of a new adjuvant immunotherapy treatment
pathway which is being implemented for the first time in this disease
group.
Experience
within oncology is desirable and you are encouraged to arrange an informal
visit or chat prior to applying for the post.
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will work with the advanced urology-oncology CNS team. Our team
cares for patients with advanced kidney, prostate, bladder and penile
cancers. The successful candidate will be responsible for a case load of
patients undergoing treatments for kidney cancer, ensuring they are assessed
and managed in accordance with local and national standards and guidelines.
With
the appropriate support and training, the successful candidate will be
involved in the completion of holistic needs assessments, treatment/symptom
reviews, toxicity management and providing on-going emotional support to our
patients and their loved ones. You will work alongside the team in the
development of cancer services and nurse led initiatives in this patient
group, along with audit and quality assurance projects.
There

- Understanding of relevant National Service Frameworks (if appropriate)
