Job summary
Are you an experienced registered nurse looking for a new challenge? Could you help to lead a team working in a fast paced Oncology environment? If the answer is yes then we want to hear from you! We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Junior Sister on Ward J93 in Bexley Wing, St Jamess Hospital. The unit consists of 24 beds caring for Oncology patients, who are currently undergoing radiotherapy, or require care for the side effects of any other anti-cancer treatments. This includes chemotherapy or immunotherapy. It is a fast-paced working environment where you will work closely as part of the multi-disciplinary team, alongside a very friendly team of colleagues. The ward is open 7 days a week with a working pattern of long days, nights and weekends.
Main duties of the job
J93 is a unit that offers high standards of care to patients with a range of Oncological needs. The ward is responsible for supporting patients with any symptoms in which they may have from their anti-cancer treatments. This includes: artificial feeding, radiotherapy burn management, supporting symptom management throughout their treatment or at the end of a patients life. Our patients and their families are dealing with challenging and difficult treatments which require our team to be highly sensitive, adaptable and expert. Working alongside the Senior Sister the successful candidate will show an ability to support patients, families,
team members and the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will share our passion for delivering a personalised patient experience and will understand the needs of the team required to deliver this. We are a very close mutli-disciplinary team and strive to deliver a high standard of care to our patients. We are based in the Bexley Wing at St Jamess Hospital, which is a purpose built cancer facility opened in 2008.
