An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Support Worker to join our
Children and Young Peoples Diabetes Team.
The
Children and Young Peoples Diabetes Service in Leeds is one of the largest in
the country caring for over 580 children and young people with diabetes up to
their 20th birthday. It is a local, regional, and supra regional centre with
many families travelling a long distance to see and take advice from our very
well established and highly skilled multidisciplinary team. The Leeds Children
and Young Peoples diabetes team use all the latest diabetes technology
including automated insulin delivery systems and continuous glucose monitoring
and are committed to patient centred care to optimise diabetes management.
Main duties of the job
The
jobholder will work within a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists responsible to
the CNS Team Leader.
Responsibilities will include supporting the running
of the diabetes outpatients clinics. Assist children and young people and their
families attending clinic with the initial assessments, uploading diabetes
technology, taking blood samples and assisting with group education sessions.
Support families with diabetes technology issues and trouble shoot. Ordering
supplies of equipment and maintaining stock levels. The post holder will work in partnership with
children andfamilies
to share expert knowledge, care and support.
The post holder will be expected to work
collaboratively with the team leader, clinical nurse specialists and wider
multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based, patient focused practice

The
jobholder will be actively involved in providing direct and indirect
compassionate care for patients in support of the multidisciplinary team. The
jobholder will undertake a range of delegated clinical patient care duties
under the support and supervision of a registered practitioner.

implement, deliver and maintain high standards of patient care. The jobholder
will be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) and acting on own initiative to
achieve the planned outcome.

care.
The
jobholder will be expected to lead a team of clinical support workers and
apprentice clinical support workers.
The
jobholder will be expected to practice in accordance within Trust policies,
guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within defined
competency boundaries.
The
jobholder will work within a ward, clinical department or community setting as
part of a multidisciplinary team.
The
jobholder must comply with the wearing of PPE as appropriate to the clinical
situation.
