Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Senior Perioperative Assistant within the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust to join CURE Team at SJUH.

The CURE team is a large team that covers Colorectal, Urology, Robot and EGS surgery at SJUH.

As part of this role the successful candidate will work as part of the theatre team providing care to patients during their theatre journey from ward to recovery.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be actively involved in providing direct and indirect care for patients in support of Perioperative Practitioners, and medical staff under the supervision of a registered Perioperative practitioner. Preparing and maintaining theatre, managing supplies and being involved in patient positioning.

Senior Perioperative Assistants are expected to perform in the scrub role to the same standard as perioperative practitioner, but will cover a more limited range of procedures agreed for the surgical speciality they are allocated to which is predominantly Urology based.

The jobholder will be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) and acting on own initiative to achieve the planned outcome and to contribute to ensuring that every operation is as safe and effective as possible.
