In addition, the service includes a 10-bedded Level 2 Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU), which admits patients directly from the Emergency Department. The HASU functions as a Regional Thrombectomy Centre, also receiving patients transferred from Harrogate.

We are an extremely busy service with high clinical demand and are committed to delivering excellent patient care while maintaining high standards of professional practice.

Our stroke ward vision is to create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment that promotes respect for all patients, colleagues, and visitors, while supporting recovery, dignity, and compassionate care.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals is committed to our process of redeploying 'at risk' members of our existing workforce to new roles.
