Job summary

An exciting opportunity for Band 2 Maternity Support Workers to work within maternity services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is now available. Leeds Teaching Hospitals is a large tertiary unit with approximately 10,000 births per year.

We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated and committed maternity support workers who are passionate about delivering a high quality service to women and their families across the maternity pathway.

Flexibility with shift patterns is essential as the post includes weekends and Bank Holidays. Will need to travel between hospital and community based sites as a requirement of the role.

Main duties of the job

Currently we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the Home Office's criteria. Anyone requiring a certificate of sponsorship is therefore unable to be shortlisted and interviewed.

The role of the post holder is to undertake, under the direction and supervision of a registered midwife or other member of the maternity team, tasks and duties to support the delivery of maternity care. The post holder is required to have basic knowledge of maternity care and may carry out clinical and administrative duties, for which they have been appropriately trained, within their area of work.

The post holder is expected to undertake a set of defined, Trust specific competencies following appointment to the post; including the Care Certificate. This certificate ensures the minimum standards for the role are met. Support will be given to the post holder to further develop their skills and explore pathways for progression where appropriate.

Leeds Teaching Hospital Maternity Services support the birth of approximately 9000 babies per year. We are a tertiary unit with the largest Fetal Medicine Unit in the North. We also have a Quaternary Paediatric and Cardiac Surgery unit the largest Congenital Cardiac Service in the North of England and we are specialists in Prematurity Prevention for Y&H.
