This post combines aspects of the clinical support worker role with a band 2 admin role ensuring the applicant receives full training in both aspects of the role and giving the applicant experience and qualifications in both. This dual role will allow the postholder to develop skills and experience in a varied and busy department.
Main duties of the job
This role will involve booking outpatient appointments, answering the telephone, dealing with queries from other departments, GPs, clinicians and the general public. You will also assist the Patient Services Co-ordinator with any other admin tasks. You will assist the clinicians by chaperoning patients and helping the patients to dress/undress (if required), ensure patients fully understand the test they are having, assist the clinician with medical equipment and stock taking/ordering. This will be a very varied role and full training and support is available.
About us
The neurophysiology department is an extremely small team, consisting of 4 consultant neurophysiologists, 9 physiologists, 2 clinical support workers and 3 admin team members. We receive around 8000 referrals per year for various neurophysiology tests so it is extremely busy. As we are such a small team everyone works together to ensure the best possible patient journey. The best thing about working in neurophysiology is the happy atmosphere and the closeness of the team. We also work very closely with our Neurology admin department and help each other when required, which will give the postholder more experience of working in different units within the Neurosciences CSU.
