Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Peri-Operative Practitioners to join the
Post Anaesthetic Care Unit / Recovery Team covering various specialities at St.
James Hospital.
The
successful candidates will join this driven and motivated team to facilitate
safe, efficient and effective post-operative care in both acute and elective
surgical specialities.
PACU
provides an opportunity to develop a wide range of skills within a friendly and
supportive environment. These skills include high dependency, airway
management, pain management and care of the unconscious patient. The unit
provides post-operative care for 23 operating theatres in a variety of theatre
suites within St James Hospital. We provide care to a wide range of
specialities including: Robotic cases, Urology, Colorectal, Thoracic, Oncology,
Gynae, Breast, Ophthalmic, Hepatobiliary, General surgery, Obstetric and acute
care.

As
a perioperative practitioner the jobholder will :
provide immediate post operative care
for patients within the peri-operative environment from multiple specialties.
play a key role in the assessment of
patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of
programmes of care
ensure effective communication is
maintained at all times within the MDT and with patients and carers.
provide support to registered and
unregistered staff within the department, including learners.
Ensure PACU areas are clean and safe
environments and use resources responsibly
act as a role model, promoting
quality evidence-based practice and positive professional relationships within
the team and the MDT
