An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Staff Nurse to join our
multidisciplinary Cardiac Ultrasound team to help in the delivery of high
quality Diagnostic Ultrasound imaging services for patients who require Stress
Echocardiography and Transoesophageal Echocardiography at the Leeds General
Infirmary. This is a rare opportunity for career development within a niche
department where you can develop new skills, working with state-of-the-art
technology within a multidisciplinary team.
The
post holder will be required to work 8:30 - 16:30pm shift pattern, Monday -
Friday.
You
will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills and be an enthusiastic,
dedicated, and flexible team member in order to support the rapidly developing
services. Cardiology experience would be preferable; performing and
interpreting ECG and cannulation skills are highly desirable, however a full
training package will be provided to the successful candidate.

Practice (IPP) Induction programme to prepare you for working at LTHT. We also
have a 6 month preceptorship framework to support you in your new role, which
incorporates further education sessions and support forums.
This is a part time role 30 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
We
are looking for an individual with a genuine interest in Cardiology, who is
hardworking and passionate about delivering high standards of cardiac care,
shows commitment towards service improvement and who is motivated towards
maintaining and improving their own skills. Candidates should be able to
demonstrate a good level of technical expertise with haemodynamic and
respiratory monitoring equipment, and diagnostic ECG acquisition and
interpretation. During the investigations they will operate stress exercise
equipment and will be required to distinguish the ECG rate and rhythm and
identify ST segment elevation or depression and communicate any significant
changes to the other members of the team. They will be required to use
capnography and monitor blood pressure and blood oxygen saturations during and
after procedures which require sedation.
They should be familiar with preparing and
administering I.V medicine and imaging contrast solutions. Cannulation and
venepuncture are highly desirable skills. In emergency situations you will work
as part of a team providing CPR support to the patient. The post includes
delivering training to different members of the department to ensure up to date
and adequate skills are maintained. Cardiology experience is preferred; however
we are aware that this is specialist work so further training will be provided,
if required. Excellent communication skills are paramount.
