Biomedical Support Worker/Phlebotomist

The closing date is 19 August 2025

Job summary

Are you an experienced phlebotomist? If so, have you considered working in outpatients?

We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic, highly motivated and reliable phlebotomists to join the team working within the Community Diagnostic Centres at Seacroft, Armley and Beeston.

You must be passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting and collaborating effectively with colleagues. You must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, along with the resilience and focus to perform well in a fast-paced environment.

You must demonstrate excellent communication skills along with basic IT skills, both of which are essential for this role.

There will be a requirement for staff to rotate across all three sites, working Monday to Friday 08:30-19:00 with some Saturdays on a rotational basis.

Full and part-time hours will be considered.

Main duties of the job

Phlebotomy experience is essential.

As an experienced phlebotomist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to safely and effectively collect blood samples from both adults and children using a variety of venepuncture techniques.

You will work closely with a team of phlebotomists, alongside nursing, medical, and administrative staff, to deliver a smooth, efficient, and patient focused service. A professional, calm, and reassuring approach is essential, especially when supporting individuals who are vulnerable or have additional needs. Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal abilities and a mature and positive attitude are key to success in this role.

You must be flexible, able to manage your responsibilities independently and confident in adapting to the demands of a busy and dynamic environment.

The role requires a commitment to professional behaviour, patient safety, and maintaining high standards of infection control and record keeping.

Your approach must support both teamwork and independent working, always with the aim of delivering the best possible patient care. Your knowledge and practice must ensure that all blood samples are collected in a way that guarantees their suitability for diagnostic, therapeutic, or analytical purposes.

You will contribute to the efficient delivery and ongoing evolution of the phlebotomy service within our innovative Community Diagnostic Centres.
