Senior Clinical Support Worker

Job summary

We are looking to complete the recruitment for the position of Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker on GATU/ J24. This is initially a fixed term position to fill the vacancy of 34.5 hours per week, however there is a possibility that this could become a permanent position.

J24/ GATU supports patients with acute / emergency gynaecology problems, complications or concerns in early pregnancy, and in patients with acute surgical problems.

The successful candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual passionate about supporting the effective delivery of care across the unit, have the skills to support the team in providing high quality patient centred care across the assessment and in patient areas, and support the leadership of band 2 Clinical Support Workers. They must have excellent communication skills and meet the criteria identified within the personal specification.

The jobholder will be expected to lead a team of clinical support workers and apprentice clinical support workers.

The jobholder will be expected to practice in accordance within Trust policies, guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within defined competency boundaries.

The jobholder will work within a ward, clinical department or community setting as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The jobholder must comply with the wearing of PPE as appropriate to the clinical situation - this may involve wearing face masks for a considerable length of time.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, Diploma in Health Level 3, Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent experience.
  • The Care Certificate or in the absence of this the jobholder must successfully attain the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Commitment to undergo training and education as required.

Desirable

  • Basic skills Maths and English Level 2 (equivalent of GCSE 4-9 (A*-C)).

Experience

  • Significant experience of working within a healthcare setting delivering personal and clinical care.
  • Utilisation of planning and organisational skills
  • Insight into roles responsibilities of post.
