Emergency Department - Leeds General Infirmary & St Jamess University Hospital

Our vibrant Emergency Departments at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust offer an exciting and supportive environment for ambitious healthcare professionals who are passionate about emergency care. This is a fast paced and busy department which provides front line treatment for adults.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals Emergency Department team operates across two main sites at St James Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary. We are also the regional Trauma centre for adults.

For all new starters to the Trust, we have an award winning, structured Introduction to Professional Practice (IPP) Induction programme to prepare you for working at LTHT. We have a dedicated clinical practice educator team to ensure robust support and education as you begin your new journey. This includes supporting your 6-month preceptorship framework.

The post is to cover the 24 hour period and will therefore include day shifts, night shifts, weekend and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

To provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of care.

To deliver care without supervision.

To take charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse.

To participate in the in-service training, preceptor ship and mentorship of junior staff, post basic learners and students.

To take responsibility as the prime care provider for a group of patients.

Infection Control
