*This
programme is open to Registered Nursing Associates (RNA) who have experience
since qualifying and completed their preceptorship.
*And
Associate practitioners (APs) with significant experience.
Your
existing qualification will be assessed against the BSc Hons degree in Adult
Nursing and you will then RPEL into the programme. Prior to commencement, you
will be required to demonstrate on-going learning and reflective practice.
The
programme is delivered by the apprenticeship route where you will be employed
at LTHT and undertake your academic studies through Leeds Beckett University.
During
the apprenticeship you will develop knowledge, skills and behaviours that
will allow you to work in todays dynamic and ever changing healthcare
environment. Whilst you will be allocated to one specific area, you will also
experience working across both internal and external clinical placements
gaining skills, knowledge, experience and an appreciation of the different
areas of the local healthcare service, meeting the Nursing and Midwifery
Council (NMC) practice learning requirements.
You
must meet the academic entry requirements and apprenticeship eligibility
checks including visa status to be successful at gaining a place.
Main duties of the job
The
Transfer to Nursing programme allows the trainee to work to become a Registered
Nurse with a BSc Hons degree in Adult Nursing.
The course combines work-based and academic learning between LTHT and an
approved Higher Education Institute (HEI) Leeds Beckett University.
As
a Transfer to Nurse student you will be based as a paid employee within
LTHT. Whilst you will be allocated to
one specific area, you will experience working across both internal and
external placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of local
healthcare services and meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
requirements for entry to the NMC register, which will provide you with
Registered Nurse status.
You
will be required to achieve the education and practice standards as set out by
the NMC, HEI and the Institute of Apprenticeships and undertake an integrated
end point assessment, as well as completion of the degree programme.
During
the degree programme you will develop skills and knowledge that will allow you
to work in todays dynamic and changing healthcare environment. You will be
required to commit to self-directed study and successfully complete the
programme within the contract period.

academic and practice elements of the programme as specified by the Leeds
Teaching Hospital Trust (LTHT), HEI and Institute of Apprenticeship
standards. According to these standards you will be required to complete
4,300 hours equally divided between theory and practice as off the job
training. You will also be required to complete an apprentice portfolio that
demonstrates learning and skills and complete an end point assessment.

competencies related to NMC standards as specified by the Trust and the
University
Have sound attitudes and behaviours
compatible with NHS Values and LTHT values as set out in The Leeds Way
Work as part of a designated
clinical care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the
patient as a rostered member of staff as on the job training
Work with an NMC approved assessor,
taking responsibility for developing your own nursing competence while on
placements and attending academic study; maintaining evidence of your

procedures required as an employee of LTHT
Work within the competency
boundaries as set at each stage of the programme and as determined by the
