Job summary

Are you bright, enthusiastic and looking for a new challenge? The Trauma and Related Services Clinical Service Unit is looking for Nursing Associates to join us on L15 a 27 bedded Vascular surgery ward based at the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and help build on our existing reputation for excellence in patient care.

We are looking for outstanding individuals who can join our nursing team on and help us deliver high quality care. The role is required to cover day shifts Mon - Friday.

Main duties of the job

The nursing associate will join the team in supporting the care of patients brought to the ward alongside the team of highly-skilled nurses. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop and rotate to make use of clinical skills, such as complex dressings, venepuncture and cannulation, medications and taking a team of patients.

It is an exciting, busy and fast paced area to work and has a designated, committed team of staff.

JOB PURPOSE

The nursing associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. The nursing associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing and care and within all aspects of the nursing process.

Nursing associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment as a nursing associate and will work to the NMC code of conduct.

JOB DIMENSIONS

The following criteria identify the core components of the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of nursing associates. They identify what nursing associates can contribute to the health and wellbeing of patients and service users, and apply across all health and care settings. Integral to all of these is the ability to communicate effectively, with sensitivity and compassion, and to manage relationships with people, making reasonable adjustments where necessary.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

To fulfil the requirements as directed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council to maintain and revalidate registration

Monitor the condition and health needs of people within their care on a continual basis in partnership with people, families, and carers
