An exciting opportunity has arisen in our new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit within the Urgent Care Clinical Service Unit at the Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust. The unit will be co-located with the St Jamess University Hospital Emergency Department (ED) to ensure close collaboration, we are excited to be expanding our services to 24-hours to ensure the best patient outcome, journey, and experience.

We are looking for dynamic self-motivated Registered Nurses (Band 5) to join our expanding team. This is an exciting time to join SDEC as work progresses in our brand-new purpose-built unit, planned for completion this year.

The SDEC team provide clinical assessment and treatment for patients requiring same day medical care; these patients may previously have waited a length of time in the Emergency Department and admitted to one of our Acute Assessment Units to receive this care. Our aim on SDEC if that we see and treat these patients in the same day, decongesting ED and avoiding unnecessary hospital admission.

Main duties of the job

We are calling all knowledgeable, committed, and resilient Nurses to help maintain our high standards, embed routine and manage the day-to-day care of our patients. Were looking for enthusiastic individuals to support the Senior teams to deliver expert high-quality care. We work closely with the Emergency Department and in-patient Acute Assessment Units giving our nurses the opportunity to expand their clinical skills throughout the Urgent Care Clinical Service Unit.

About us

Applicants should be adaptable to a changing environment that prides itself on quality and efficiency. You will need to be a Registered General Nurse (RGN), on completion the SDEC Unit will cover a 24-hour service and will therefore include days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
