Job summary
We
have an exciting opportunity for some of our existing workforce who are wanting
to progress their clinical skills.
The
role of Senior Perioperative Assistants allows for Perioperative Assistants to
develop their skills within the Scrub Role.
We
are looking for either practitioners who already hold a Level 3 qualification
who need to complete the scrub skills, practitioners who hold a Level 3
qualification and have been working in this role already or practitioners who
would like to undertake the qualification and scrub/ recovery skills.
Main duties of the job
For
those who already hold this qualification you would be appointed as a
permanent position, those who still need to complete the training would be
appointed on a fix term contract and move into a permanent position upon
completion.
We
are looking for practitioners who are interested in working in either the
scrub or recovery role. Please state in your application and at interview if
you would prefer scrub or recovery.
Practitioners
will either scrub for minor surgical procedure or support with recovery of
patients post operatively.

Job responsibilities
The
jobholder will be undertaking an approved higher level apprenticeship
training programme within the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (LTHT). It is
expected that the job holder will commit to self-directed study and
successfully complete the education, training and competence assessment
required for the role, including those skills listed below, within the fixed
term 24 month contract period.
As
training progresses, following discussion and agreement with mentors and
supervisors, the trainee will work with less direction, supervision and
guidance in a protected environment
The
jobholder will be actively involved in providing direct and indirect
compassionate care for patients in support of the multidisciplinary team. The
jobholder will undertake a range of delegated clinical patient care duties
and can be expected to work under the direct supervision of a registered
practitioner.
The
jobholder will assist in the overall implementation and evaluation of care as
part of the multi professional team. The jobholder is expected to assist to plan,
implement, deliver and maintain high standards of patient care.
The
jobholder will contribute to the maintenance of an environment for effective
care

jobholder will be develop knowledge and skills to support the Senior
Perioperative Assistant to lead a team of perioperative assistants and
apprentice clinical support workers
The
jobholder will be expected to practice in accordance within Trust policies,
guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within defined
competency boundaries.
The
jobholder will work under direct supervision within the CSU as part of a
multidisciplinary team whilst undertaking the training programme.
The
jobholder may be required to undertake additional anaesthetic-specific
learning within the training role, e.g. scrub and cell saver competencies.
