Job summary
Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Chronic Pain and Neuromodulation (37.5 hours per week Part-time applications considered - minimal of 22.5 hours per week). Based at Leeds General Infirmary but includes cross site working.
The job holder will be responsible for the on-going assessment, implementation and evaluation of care of patients with chronic pain and complex health needs. You will need to have a keen interest in chronic pain and neuromodulation and be driven by evidence based practice. This role is technical and exciting and we love to encourage innovative working.
Having a keen interest in service improvement and providing excellent patient care is essential. We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Nurse Specialist, you will be required to demonstrate that you possess and embrace the values that are the embodiment of the Leeds way, that you aspire to continue to learn and develop within the role, becoming an expert to ensure we provide the best possible care.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely within our excellent multi-disciplinary team. The Clinical Nurse Specialist role includes; independently running outpatient clinics, providing patient education and information sessions, specialised pre and post implant care and programming of patients implanted with neuromodulation stimulators (spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulators), highly specialised care of patients with Intrathecal pumps (assessing, programming and refilling intrathecal pumps), running Qutenza treatment clinics, supporting theatre cases and much more.
The neuromodulation pathway includes face to face and virtual clinics and we embrace technology in providing the best and most efficient service we can.
Patient education is a key and essential role. We work closely within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and it is essential to have excellent communication within a team and have the ability to work independently.
