JOB PURPOSE
The
Jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The
jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs,
the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the
setting of standards of care. The jobholder will provide specialist nursing
care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the
development of the speciality service. The jobholder will ensure cost
effective use of resources.

JOB DIMENSIONS
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse preferably with a
Neurology background to join our busy, well established MS Nursing team.
We
are looking for a highly motivated person with a drive and passion to deliver
high quality care.
We
are a Regional Treatment Centre for patients who are prescribed Disease
Modifying Therapies (DMTs) and hold a current caseload of around 1456
patients.
The
MS Specialist Nurse will act as a clinical expert and professional resource
to the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
You
will be responsible for and manage a caseload of patients, running nurse led
clinics, telephone clinics, assessment and monitoring of patients on DMTs
,recruiting patients to clinical trials and clinical audit.
Ideally
the candidate will have 3 years post registration experience.
Car
driver essential.
The
successful candidate will need excellent communication, organisational and
assessment skills with a proactive approach to care delivery.

- Provide a clinical lead and role

monitoring and improvement of standards and the quality of patient care,

the National Benchmarks for Essential Care
- Promote evidence based practice,
wherever possible

service delivery and development

guidelines specific to the clinical specialty, proposing changes where
appropriate
- Contribute to policy and protocol
development for speciality area

All

times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Policies, including Health

The
jobholder must comply at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS

Infection Control Precautions. Hand
hygiene must be performed before and after contact with patients and their
environment.

is a frequent requirement for job holder to spend a substantial proportion of
their working time sitting or standing in a restricted position and an
occasional requirement to exert moderate physical effort.

pattern may be unpredictable.
