The Clinical Neurophysiology service in Leeds is continually striving to improve. The department has recently received new and updated EEG equipment. We are currently meeting new service demands within this large teaching hospital where all the major specialties, both adult and peadiatric are covered.

We currently have a vacancy for a band 6 physiologist. This is a perfect role for a qualified physiologist wishing to enhance their career in Neurophysiology. This role will involve participation in the more advanced investigations such as ambulatory EEG, Intraoperative monitoring and video telemetry.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to perform a wide range of investigations, from all specialties for both adults and paediatrics, across the 2 sites.

Investigations performed include:

EEG: Routine, portable, ambulatory, sleep, video telemetry (paediatric and adult), wada and corticography.

EMG: EMG and NCS. The specialist physiologists carry out routine NCS and assist with EMG clinics.

Evoked potentials: VER, ERG, SSEP (intraoperative monitoring)

The role also includes teaching and training.

Training and support where necessary will be provided as you will be encouraged to expand your role.

The department of clinical neurophysiology is based on two sites, LGI and St Jamess and provides an extensive range of routine and highly specialised neurophysiology diagnostic procedures for patients of all ages from a range of specialties. Joining a team of typically 7 physiologists, 4 consultants, trainee doctors clinical support and admin staff, you will be a valued member of the team.

The Specialist Physiologist has some management responsibilities and works closely with the clinical services manager to contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the department. The majority of the time is spent carrying out clinical work.

The Specialist Physiologist deputises for the clinical services manager in the absence of the advanced specialist physiologist and, therefore, has responsibilities for organising workloads and the day-to-day running of the department.

The Specialist Physiologist is responsible for stock control and supervises pharmacy stock control.
