Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Leeds Pain and Interventional Neuromodulation service for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). We are a small team of Clinical Nurse Specialists looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and dedicated CNS to provide highly specialised care to our patients. Experience in neuromodulation is required to be able to provide expert specialised care to our patients and to support the nursing team.
Leeds Pain and Interventional Neuromodulation Service provides a comprehensive range of specialist pain services for the patients of Yorkshire and beyond. Our highly experienced multidisciplinary staff provide a range of medical interventions to reduce pain and are dedicated to achieving the very best outcomes for patients with long term pain. The service runs Mon-Fri 8-4.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve advanced clinical assessment of patients within the LTHT Chronic Pain and Neuromodulation service. The role will involve assessing and prescribing specialised medications (such as intrathecal drugs) and making consequent dose changes (within your clinical knowledge, competence, and Trust Guidelines). The role will involve specialist clinical decision making and working autonomously.
You would work alongside the team leader, providing leadership, training and support for the Band 6 CNS and Clinical Support Worker within the team and to take a lead on audit, service improvement and development.
You would work collaboratively with the wider team, referring patients to other services where appropriate.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be practising as an independent specialist clinical practitioner providing patient-centred and evidence-based clinical care, within an agreed scope of competence and practice. The jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.
The post holder will provide specialist nursing advice and care to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and their carers in collaboration with the multi/interdisciplinary team for patients with chronic pain, spasticity and movement disorders, who are referred to the Chronic Pain & Neuromodulation and Neuro Rehabilitation Service, for procedures including: spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation and intrathecal drug delivery, as well as key involvement in the chronic pain medication management.
To provide specialist nursing care and support in the management of the Neuromodulation Service. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings, under the guidance of the team leader for the service.
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area acting as a professional role model providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching, research and audit.
