The paediatric pharmacy team at Leeds Childrens Hospital have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic, friendly, and forward-thinking service as a Band 6 Pharmacist.

Paediatric pharmacy is one of the most rewarding and dynamic areas of practice. No two days are the same: you may be calculating and preparing highly individualised doses for a premature baby in neonatal intensive care, supporting complex treatment plans for children with long-term conditions, or working with families to ensure medicines are used safely at home. Its a specialty that demands problem-solving, adaptability and creativity, as many medicines are unlicensed in children and require thoughtful, individualised solutions. Working in paediatrics offers the chance to be part of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team where your expertise directly improves outcomes for some of our most vulnerable patients, and where you can see the positive impact of your input on a childs health and future.

Main duties of the job

Deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services directly to patients and multidisciplinary teams.

Gain exposure to a variety paediatric specialties with the support of experienced senior pharmacists.

Contribute to medicines optimisation, safe prescribing and discharge planning

Build on your clinical knowledge of medicines optimisation within the interesting role of paediatric pharmacy

As part of your development, you will be trained and supported to take on more specialist responsibilities, including contributing to the childrens warfarin clinic and becoming aseptically competent. These opportunities provide excellent experience in highly specialised areas of practice, while giving you the confidence and skills to progress towards a more specialist role and would be great preparation for anyone interested in applying for the Foundation Pharmacist Training Programme at LTHT,
