The Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services (MMPS) CSU is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Business Support Manager to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a full-time (37.5 hours), permanent position. We support flexible working within MMPS to help our employees maintain a healthy worklife balance and overall wellbeing.

This leadership role will focus on workforce planning and overseeing the CSUs business support function. You will work closely with CSU operational leads, so strong interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships are essential.

You will also have line management responsibility for administrative staff within the CSU and should demonstrate a proven track record of leading teams to a high standard. We are fully committed to The Leeds Way and expect our managers to embody these values in all aspects of their role.

Main duties of the job

The Business Support Manager will undertake the below duties:

Provide leadership and operational oversight for the business support function across MMPS.

Directly line manage two Band 5 Assistant Business Managers.

Serve as office manager for the General Management function and wider CSU administrative support.

Lead CSU-wide recruitment coordination, including, advertising, shortlisting logistics, induction and onboarding processes.

Develop and manage a centralised absence reporting structure to ensure consistency, timeliness, and compliance.

Support CSU-wide workforce compliance monitoring.

Act as System Administrator for key workforce platforms.

Lead the CSU Roster Management approach, ensuring rosters are managed centrally and in line with service and financial requirements.

To act as responsible lead to Workforce centric meetings.

Coordinate internal office moves workspace redesigns, and associated Health and Safety compliance ensuring effective space utilisation and smooth transitions.

Oversee procurement processes to ensure compliance and value for money.

The post holder will lead key improvements to support the delivery of key performance indicators. This will include line management responsibilities of the administration team. They will support and oversee performance development and staff deployment within the department and ensure that services are delivered effectively, efficiently and in compliance with Trust Policies and Procedures. In addition the post holder will have a supporting role in the development and implementation of the Trusts strategic aims and will maintain effective working relationships within a multi professional environment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for the leadership and management of administrative staff within the Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services business support team including performance and appraisal development, complaints, HR processes etc. This may require frequent adjustment to plans to ensure organisational and departmental priorities are met.

Lead the recruitment and selection of administrative staff. Taking responsibility for all stages from completion and submission of ESR forms, arranging adverts on NHS jobs, short listing, interviewing and selection

To manage and support change within the organisation, being a champion of the software and encouraging and supporting others to adapt to new ways of working.

Assist in the development and monitoring of activity plans for the departments workforce, making adjustments where necessary

Leading and motivating staff in the delivery of quality care across complex clinical and business environments and services.

Participating appropriately in the investigation of complaints

Need ability to concentrate on work whilst coping and multitasking with frequent operational interruptions on a daily basis e.g. to deal with urgent ad hoc requests for information.

iii) EMOTIONAL EFFORT:
