undertake the role of Assistant Practitioner - Pharmacy Supervisor in the
Pharmacy Stores & Distribution team?
This
exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pharmacy Stores & Distribution
service provided from the Pharmacy Warehouse based in Hunslet, South
Leeds.
Have
you got excellent people management skills? Duties will be predominantly
concerned with the local line management, supervision and organisation of the
warehouse team, and the day to day running of the medicines receipt and
supply service from this site. Essential requirements are excellent
communication, team leading and supervision skills, and ability to organise
and prioritise workload. Use of initiative and an ability to make decisions
are also needed. Qualifications required are Level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or
equivalent) or Level 2 plus training and experience to an equivalent level;
ILM award in Leadership and Management skills (or equivalent experience).
Main duties of the job
The
Pharmacy Stores & Distribution Service is an integral part of the LTHT
Pharmacy department as a whole and the wider community. We provide our customers with all their
Pharmaceutical Stock requirements ensuring Patients and customers receive
their medicines before they are needed.
The
successful candidate will liaise, communicate and network with the Pharmacy
Stores and Distribution teams and management, other Pharmacy Service teams
and leads, and department staff as required.
The
post requires a broad knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, Health
& Safety in the workplace, logistics, warehouse and Good Distribution
Practice. Experience of Pharmacy Services or equivalent, and supervising /
team leading experience are also essential to this post. Knowledge and
experience of stock control systems are also required for this post.
The
post holder must be committed to own development and undertake relevant
learning / courses in agreement with their line manager.
The
post holder may be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a
rotational basis.

JOB
PURPOSE
Perform
a range of organisational, supervisory and supply functions in order to
provide efficient and quality services to patients, wards and clinics within
the Trust. Duties will be predominantly concerned with the organisation and
direct supervision of staff and activities; including assembly, supply and
checking of pharmaceuticals ensuring tight deadlines are met. Stock control
management and clerical duties are also assigned to this post. Ensures
adherence and trains staff including H&S and COSHH issues.
PRINCIPAL
DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Works
under guidance of SOPs, GDP and COSHH and works independently:-
Responsible for the day to day
supervision and co-ordination of staff and service delivery.
Is guided by defined protocols and
procedures and ensures work activities are in accordance with these.
Evaluates circumstances and
situations and makes well judged decisions on the information at hand but is
aware when refer
to
more senior supervisors and managers
Organises and prioritises work
within assembly and preparation areas covering fast track and routine service
requirements
Is responsible for the checking of
medicines including the release of unlicensed medicines and is responsible
for ensuring the accuracy of orders to all customers.
Responsible for the safe use of
equipment, training staff in use of equipment, ensuring staff use equipment
in accordance with instructions and SOPs
Ensures that all required
functional tests, inspections and verifications are carried out on equipment
before and after work sessions. Reports equipment faults and deviations and
ensures that deviations are authorised and records are diligently completed.
Ensures all statutory legislation
and established quality systems relating to departmental policies and
procedures are complied with on a day to day basis.
Liaises with other supervisory
staff, speciality team leaders and management on a regular basis to ensure
optimum efficiency and quality of service.
Delivers staff training and
supports staff development
Contributes to the development of
new ways of working and to the implementation of new and revised policies and
procedures
Documents, labels, assemble,
prepare and checks medicines to patients, wards and clinics. Maintains
correct documentation and audit trails. Is responsible for the release of
restricted medicines under controlled conditions.
Participates in stock control,
assist in ordering processes for medicines and consumables, including
requisitioning, unpacking, checking and booking in.
Resolves immediate problems with
out of stock medicines, liaising with procurement department wards,
pharmacists and suppliers where necessary
Carries out reception duties to
include: - handling incoming calls and routine enquiries.
Performs clerical tasks associated
with the department e.g. filing, expiry date checks and data collection for
statistics.
Oversees the general housekeeping
e.g. cleaning and tidying of work areas.
Participates in the weekend and
Bank Holiday working on a rotational basis.
Undertakes other duties associated
with providing an efficient Pharmacy Service to patients and wards as
allocated by specialist pharmacy technicians.
Contributes to and is a named
