We
are looking to recruit TWO enthusiastic, conscientious, flexible and reliable
Pharmacy Stores Support Workers (In Training) to join our Pharmacy Stores and
Distribution teams based at the Pharmacy Stores at the LGI and the Pharmacy
Warehouse in Hunslet.

note, this post does not involve direct patient care*
Are
you a motivated individual who has good reading and numeracy skills and shows
initiative? Do you have a flexible approach to your work, good communications
skills and have the ability to work as part of a team?
Applicants
will need to Train to be a Pharmacy Stores Support Worker over a 6-month
period undertaking the Dispensary Stock Management course supported by
in-house competency assessment.
It
is a requirement of this role to complete the training and qualification.
This
is initially a 12-month contract and will be made substantive on completion
of training.
Applicants
must be able to meet the requirement for basic skills Maths and English Level
1 or equivalent.

Main duties of the job
These
Posts will be based within the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution Team, where
we have vacancies at the Pharmacy Warehouse Leeds 10 and MRDU (Medicines
Receipt and Distribution Unit within the Leeds General Infirmary, time may
also be spent with the Stores and Distribution Team at St Jamess Hospital.
The
primary role of the Pharmacy Stores & Distribution Team is to ensure
timely and accurate replenishment of pharmacy stock on wards and departments
at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. This
includes assembly and delivery of stock medicines to wards, departments, and
our own Pharmacy areas across the Trust.
You
will be involved in a variety of duties associated with this, including
receipt, storage, dispatch, ward top-up, stock control and delivery of
medicines.
Please
be aware that for all posts there is a significant amount of walking, and
moving and handling, including bulk consignments.

JOB
PURPOSE/SUMMARY
Train
to be a Pharmacy Warehouse operative over a 6-month period undertaking the
Dispensary stock management course supported by inhouse competency
assessment.
To
perform a variety of support duties. These include stock receipt, stock
counting & ordering (top-ups), picking and packing of orders, and
distribution. Stock control procedures
and stocktaking and the. disposal of
pharmaceutical waste.
There
are no line management responsibilities.
All duties are performed working to procedures, mostly under direct
supervision. The jobholder will work
as a member of the team in the Pharmacy warehouse. Although duties are
generally rostered across the team, there may be changes in response to
urgent demand, service cover etc.
The
post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on
a rotational basis.
PRINCIPAL
DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Working to relevant SOPs and
undertaking the Dispensary stock management course. Required to work in the
Pharmacy Warehouse, Pharmacy Stores and Distribution areas. areas
Receipt of consignments from
suppliers, including checking and booking into the Pharmacy Computer System.
Prompt reporting of discrepancies to the stores supervisor.
Carry out routine stock control
procedures. Ensure stock is located
under correct storage conditions and continuous evaluation of stock levels,
stock rotation and expiry dates is undertaken.
Perform necessary clerical tasks
associated with the service. These may be manual but more routinely involve
keyboard data entry onto the JAC system.
This includes order entry, stock list maintenance & printing,
issuing to correct cost centres.
Participate in regular stock-takes
according to departmental procedures.
Contribute to the ward &
department medicines top-up service.
Pick and pack orders for
distribution, under supervision. Pack
and process materials for sterilization.
Deliver medicines to wards and
departments on the main trust sites, ensuring compliance with Trust Medicines
Management policies And other required duties within role.
Maintenance of work areas and good
housekeeping in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
Operation of specialist equipment
e.g. powered stacking equipment, Transfer waste (pharmaceutical and
household) to the appropriate collection points, according to procedures
