The Pharmacy Stores & Distribution team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust provide ward stock medicines top-up and delivery to wards and departments throughout the Trust via the onsite top-up teams. The Leeds Pharmaceutical Warehouse service is predominantly concerned with receipt, storage and issue of medicines orders, with associated stock control activities.

We are looking to recruit 2 Part-time staff (20 hours per week each over Mon to Friday) enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals with drive to undertake the roles of Pharmacy Stores and Distribution Support Workers (in training based in the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution team at St Jamess Hospital Leeds 9 LS9 7TF

The successful candidates must be pro-active and flexible in their approach to working within this busy department and other areas in the Stores and Distribution Services and have excellent organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

These posts will involve working with a small team of Band 2 Pharmacy Support workers, training to Top-up wards with stock medication, delivering and putting the stock away for the ward or department.

This also includes working with the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution supervisors and managers.

For all posts, this will involve working across ALL sites at Leeds Teaching Hospitals as required.

Please be aware that for all posts there is a significant amount of walking and moving and handling, including bulk consignments.

The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.

Train to be a Pharmacy Warehouse operative over a 6-month period undertaking the Dispensary stock management course supported by inhouse competency assessment.

To perform a variety of support duties. These include stock receipt, stock counting & ordering (top-ups), picking and packing of orders, and distribution. Stock control procedures and stocktaking and the disposal of pharmaceutical waste.

There are no line management responsibilities. All duties are performed working to procedures, mostly under direct supervision. The jobholders will work as members of the Stores and Distribution Team in Ward Stocks Distribution St James's Hospital. Although duties are generally rostered across the team, there may be changes in response to urgent demand, service cover etc.

The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.
