Job summary

The Pharmacy QA/QC department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT) are excited to offer this opportunity for a QA/QC Support Worker Higher Level to join our dynamic, collaborative, supportive team. This is a great chance to demonstrate and develop your skills within our service.

The post holder will perform a wide range of QA/QC activities with particular focus on Microbiology, physical environmental monitoring, temperature validation work and chemical testing.

The QA/QC service supports our licensed Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit, unlicensed Aseptic Services and unlicensed Radiopharmacy to produce specialist medicines as part of LTHT Pharmacy Preparative Services - one of the busiest such services in the UK.

We promote continuous improvement, learning and development within our team and aim to provide on-going high-quality education and training for all staff.

This is a great time to join us as we are part of a national programme to transform aseptic services in England, with West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) identified as one of five pathfinder sites. Our team is expanding to support the build of a new Pharmacy Aseptic Hub to manufacture medicines for the WYAAT collaborative, with hospitals in the region working together for the best possible patient care.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for training and day to day supervision of the Microbiology Laboratory and QA/QC Support workers.

To collect, receive and assist in the processing of microbiological monitoring samples for testing.

To undertake routine and more complex technical investigations, following standard operating procedures, some of which may be under supervision.

To undertake and assist with physical environmental monitoring, validation work and chemical testing.

To communicate effectively with colleagues and other healthcare staff.

The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rostered basis.
