Job summary
We
are recruiting to a Senior Arthroplasty Fellow post at the Lower Limb
Arthroplasty Unit in the Chapel Allerton Orthopaedic Centre (CHOC), Leeds.
We
are a busy tertiary referral unit for all aspects of lower limb arthroplasty
surgery offering exposure to cemented, uncemented and revision joint
replacements using a variety of techniques, including the use of endoprosthetic
implants for salvage cases. The whole service is underpinned by a weekly
infection and other complex arthroplasty MDT attended by Microbiologists and
Radiologists. This MDT will expand into a regional meeting in the near future.
The successful candidate will be a key member of this team and will be expected
to help in the administration of the MDT.
You will be working primarily at Chapel Allerton
Hospital where elective orthopaedic services are delivered, but also at Leeds
General Infirmary (MTC).
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidate will work with two to three Lower Limb Arthroplasty
Surgeons who will provide direct supervision and training. There will be ample opportunities
to develop independent operating and it will be expected that the fellow (once
appropriately experienced) will have independent theatre lists regularly for
primary hip and knee replacements.
Each
week, the fellow will have at least 3 days elective operating all day and 1 day
equivalent of trauma list managing hip fractures and periprosthetic joint
fractures and infections.
On
average: the fellow will have undertaken approximately 150-200 primary joint
replacements/year and will have regular independent operating lists.
There are no routine overnight on-call commitments for
trauma. You will be expected to contribute to the Hip Fracture Service/Acute
PJI/Periprosthetic fractures, which is at the Leeds General Infirmary site.
