Applicants
are invited for a post as Trust doctor/Clinical Fellow (ST6-7 equivalent) in
Obstetrics and in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a
friendly, dynamic, large, teaching acute hospital trust.
The
post holder will work at a level equivalent to that of a ST6-7 trainee.
Applicants must have completed Foundation competencies either as part of the UK
Foundation programme or demonstrate equivalent training. Applicants should
ideally have experience at working at a ST6 level for a minimum of 1 year
ideally within the UK. Basic Life
Support training is essential.
Candidates
will require current and valid GMC registration at time of application.
Main duties of the job
The
above post is suitable for doctors wishing to gain clinical experience at a ST6
level in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The
post offers the successful candidate a wide range of experience in all areas of
the specialty. Whilst this post is not recognised for training, the appointee
will be supported by a Clinical Supervisor to meet their career and educational
goals.
The
post holder will contribute to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology inpatient and
outpatient services as well as being part of the second on call rota with an on
call frequency of 1 in 10. The post holder will predominantly work at the SJUH
and LGI sites. Duties will involve but will not be limited to working on the
labour ward, reviewing obstetric and gynaecology (including early pregnancy)
emergencies and looking after antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology inpatients
as well as attending antenatal and gynaecology clinics. There will also be
opportunities to attend elective gynaecology and obstetric theatres.
The
post holder will also be encouraged to take part in departmental teaching and
quality improvement work.
About us
The
gynaecology service is predominantly based at St James University Hospital
(Chancellor Wing) and some elective gynaecology work including clinics, day
case and overnight theatre and hysteroscopy also takes place at Wharfdale
hospital.
The
fertility service is based at Seacroft Hospital.
The
maternity service is based at St James University Hospital (approximately 4,500
deliveries per year) and Leeds General Infirmary (approximately 5,000
deliveries per year).

accommodate the rolling on call rota of long days and night shifts on labour

post-holder will always be resident in the hospital when on duty. The
Consultant Obstetrician will be resident between 08.30-22.00 on weekdays and
08.30 and 17.30 on weekends. The Consultant Gynaecologist will be resident
between 08.30 and 17.00 on weekdays and will conduct a resident ward round on
weekends. They will remain resident beyond these times if required but will
otherwise be on call from home.
