The
Department of Pancreatic Surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is offering an
exciting opportunity to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow in Pancreas Surgery.
The
successful candidate will combine general surgery and pancreas elective duties,
alongside clinical and qualitative research into pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
They will also contribute to the general surgery on-call rota. The area in
which elective duties are carried out will be dependent on service demand.
This post is advertised on a 6 month basis.

OF THE POST
This

commitments (4 - 6 hours per week) will be at the level of ST3-5, with on-call
(full shift) work on the ST3-5 Rota.

commitments may involve attendance at major and minor surgery, OP clinics, ward
rounds, teaching and a contribution to the Trusts Clinical Governance
Programme.
LEVELS
OF RESPONSIBILITY
Elective

of a SpR. These are not Deanery (Local Education and Training) approved
training posts.
Clinical improvement work will take place during
standard days and will be supervised by Mr Samir Pathak.
About us
This
post combines clinical experience (approximately 40%) in Pancreatic Surgery at
St James University Hospital, Leeds with clinical and qualitative research
focusing on the management of oligometastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma
and loco-regional recurrence.
The
successful applicant will a join a team comprising 5.5 consultant pancreatic
surgeons, 2 Specialty Trainees, 1 senior clinical fellows and 3 Core trainees
The Unit is a recognised training centre for
laparoscopic and open surgery. Additional interests of the unit include:
Management of pancreatic ductal
adenocarcinoma
Oligometastatic pancreatic cancer
Distal cholangiocarcinoma management
Regional complex acute pancreatitis
service
Chronic pancreatitis
Benign biliary disease
Close
links exist with the gastroenterology, radiology and interventional endoscopy
units, as well as the Emergency General Surgical Team

general surgical procedures should be demonstrated. The successful applicant
