Job summary

We are recruiting to an exciting new post of a Research Doctor in Respiratory and Immunology.

We have a varied portfolio of both academic and commercial studies across the 2 specialities including, but not limited to the disease areas of ILD, Asthma, COPD, MND, Pleural, Ventilation and Sleep within Respiratory and Hereditary Angio Oedema, Vexus, Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria, Common Variable Immunodeficiency Disease and Allergy.

The successful candidate will work across both specialities and preferably have prior experience in Respiratory Medicine and/or Immunology. The candidate must have MRCP part 1 and have completed IMT1 training or equivalent. The successful candidate should be interested in and have an appreciation of the value of research and GCP.

The successful candidate will be embedded in the friendly and motivated Research Delivery team based across St James Hospital and in our research clinic area in Chancellor Wing. They will be delegated to work on studies under the supervision of the relevant PI.

They will be responsible for all aspects of clinical studies, from pre-screening, identifying and consenting patients, medical examinations, prescriptions, review blood results, AE/SAE reporting, all of which need to be performed as per trial schedules and in adherence to GCP.

In addition to clinical research activities, the candidate would be encouraged to undertake the NIHR associate PI scheme and would be supported to pursue their own research projects.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for day to day running of clinical research projects, in particular for patient recruitment, enrolment, follow-up and data entry and answering any queries.

Ensure the safety of all participants through review and management of blood results ,adverse events and protocol compliance.

They will raise the profile of our portfolio and studies on the wards and outpatient areas and the wider community groups
