Infection Clinical Research Fellow

The closing date is 12 September 2025

Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic doctor to join the Infection Research Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust as a Clinical Research Fellow. The post is a 12 month post which will include working on several different studies, alongside the research nurses and PIs, as well as being able to develop a research interest of your own. The post is ideally suited for doctors at ST3 level or above. This would be a really good post for anyone considering a career in an infection related specialty.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for setting up and maintaining a portfolio of clinical studies. They will also help out with teaching and can develop a research interest of their own. There is a possibility (not no guarantee) of joining the on-call rota. If the post holder wants experience in clinics this may also be able to be accommodated.

About us

The Infectious Diseases team has 7 consultants and a number of trainee doctors. The Microbiology department has 10 consultants. There is also an expanding virology department with 2 consultants and a clinical scientist. Most of the training grade doctors are training in both microbiology and Infectious Diseases. The infection research team consists of a team leader, 4 research nurses and a research practitioner.

Our values are part of what make us different from other trusts, so we see this as a strength, as well as a responsibility. They have been developed by our staff and set out what they see as important to how we work. Our five values are:

Patient-centred

Collaborative

Fair

Accountable

Empowered

All our actions and endeavours will be guided and evaluated through these values

Leeds Teaching Hospitals is committed to our process of redeploying 'at risk' members of our existing workforce to new roles. As such, all our job adverts are subject to this policy and we reserve the right to close, delay or remove adverts while this process is completed. If you do experience a delay in the shortlisting stage of the recruitment cycle, please bear with us while this process is completed, and contact the named contact if you have any questions.
