Job summary
This
is a 8PA locum appointment for a Consultant Neonatologist, for a period of 6
months.
The
post will be based across site at Leeds General Infirmary and St Jamess
Hospital.
The
successful applicant should hold MB BS (or equivalent) MRCPCH or equivalent
qualification and should be on the Specialist Register or within six months of
being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training
programme within the UK, or have references which have been authorised by the
Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.
Applicants
should have established skills in Neonatal Medicine. Excellent communication
and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service
development are essential.

Jamess Hospital.
Out-patient clinics
Supervision of supervision of
neonatal care on the NICU, postnatal and transitional care wards
Care of in-patients, providing
weekday consultant cover and weeknight on call (1 in 6 alternating site) to the
Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Leeds General Infirmary and the Local
Neonatal Unit at St Jamess Hospital
Contribute
to Specialist Multi-disciplinary team meetings

In
relation to this post, the Leeds Centre for Newborn Care was created in 1998
with the merger of the two acute trusts. The service comprises one level 3 unit
(NICU) at LGI and a combined low dependency comprising SCBU and Transitional
Care at SJUH, each attached to a busy delivery suite. The neonatal service is
one of the busiest in the country with 1700 admissions per year, providing 4000
intensive care days and a further 4200 high dependency care days per year.
There are approximately 10,000 deliveries across the two sites

both out-of-hours cover in addition to acute ward rounds during normal working
hours.
2.4 To
contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within Neonatal Sevices.
The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current
clinical research programs on going in the department.

- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
